Parliament is going vegan and ending its 1,000-year-old tradition of printing Britain's laws on calf-skin vellum.

It's a move driven by financial rather than ethical concerns, as it will save 拢80,000 a year. But it chimes with the choice of large numbers of people to cut animals and the produce of animals out of their diets.

But what's wrong with consuming large quantities of cheap, intensively-produced meat?

Nothing, says Justine Brian, from the Institute of Ideas. She objects to the "posh fooderati" saying people should only eat free-range organic meat, saying this would push up prices.
