Frozen Life
David Attenborough is about half a mile from the South Pole, in the centre of Antarctica. For a thousand miles in a all directions there is nothing but ice. The continent is one and a half times the size of the United States and larger than Europe, yet has a year round population of only about 800 people. It is the coldest and loneliest place on Earth, yet it is astonishingly rich in life in one or two places.
