China's Growth Hits 25-Year Low
Falling China GDP figures: "Don't panic!" says Chinese magnate. "Big grounds for concern," say three top western experts. Also, new learning solutions to the global skills gap.
China has unveiled its latest GDP figures, showing growth is now below 7% - the lowest it has been since the 1980s. But the country's top property developer believes there is no cause to panic. Three leading western analysts though - George Magnus of Oxford University, Diana Choyleva of Lombard Street Research, and Ken Rogoff of Harvard University - aren't so sure. Each of them estimates real growth to be much worse.
Also, in the face of a technology revolution, is conventional education really up to the mark? We hear from Evgeny Shadchnev, the founder of a new UK firm, The Makers Academy, which pledges to train entry-level computer programmers in just three months.
