An attack by Islamist militants on a hotel in the Burkina Faso capital Ouagadougou leaves at least 23 dead. Taiwan elects its first female president as the Democratic Progressive Party defeats the governing Kuomintang. International sanctions against Iran are likely to be lifted after a meeting in Vienna today.
