A wave of mud and earth has engulfed an industrial estate in the Chinese city of Shenzhen. More than 1,000 rescue workers have been searching for survivors. As the construction waste began overflowing from a quarry above homes, emergency crews moved 900 people to safety, but many remained trapped. Already around 90 have been confirmed dead. Some local residents have been taking to journalists saying the way the waste was being stored was unsafe. Susannah Streeter spoke to Daily Telegraph reporter Jennifer Pak near the scene of the disaster, who said Shenzen is a rapidly growing city, full of migrant workers.
