Flight to Freedom is a special programme documenting how Cambridgeshire has been a safe haven for refugees over the last 70 years. From the Polish refugee born and raised in a refugee camp outside Cambridge after the Second World War, to a Chilean mother snatched by military police and separated from her infant children in the night. Hear the heart-breaking tale of Joseph Le from Ely, who took the harrowing journey out of Vietnam in a boat, and whose aunt threw the dead bodies of her children into the sea. Also, the Asians given just three months to leave Uganda under the threat of death. We also hear informed and at times surprising views on whether our borders should be open to Syrian refugees in similar dire straits.
