Sixfields Tavern fire 'like a furnace'

An eyewitness has described the Sixfields Tavern fire in Northampton as "like a furnace".

The blaze broke out at the pub near home of Northampton Town FC shortly before kick-off on Saturday afternoon. No-one was hurt.

Ian Dunnachie, who was in the pub at the time, said the flames shot up 50ft (15.2m) into the air and said there was no way it could be saved.

The 30 staff are being found work elsewhere within the company, owners Hungry Horse said.
