How the famous King's EMI recordings were made: Christopher Bishop
Christopher Bishop, producer of many of the celebrated King’s Willcocks recordings, persuaded EMI to record the King’s Choir under Sir David. The initial idea was to record hymns, but this morphed into the celebrated recordings of the Psalms of David which have never been out of the catalogue. Christopher admired Sir David’s pacing of the recording sessions and tells the story of Bob Chilcott, treble soloist in the much-admired Fauré Requiem recording. Rachel Willcocks, Lady Willcocks, told Christopher that David enjoyed listening back to the recordings towards the end of his days.
