Irwin Stelzer: UK Deals With China "Create Threats" to US

The Chinese president Xi Jinping is continuing his tour of Britain and has signed up to more than $60bn worth of deals. His stake in the British nuclear industry is perhaps the headline deal, but the Chinese have also promised to invest in eco-friendly Black Cabs and the luxury car maker Aston Martin. The Chinese press have been covering the visit in great detail, revelling in the gold coaches and red carpets laid on by the British. But the Americans aren't so happy about the UK strengthening its ties to their rival China. As the economist Irwin Stelzer, from the Hudson Institute in Washington, explains, Xi's warm reception in the UK is vastly different to the one he received in the US just a few weeks ago.
