Argentinian lawyer Juan Mendez represented political prisoners in the 1970s. He was arrested in 1975, was tortured and held in detention for 18 months.

Juan was a victim of Pinochet's Operation Condor, a covert co-operation between Latin American countries to hand over people considered to be left-wing activists.
