Why are so many farmers so poor? One answer at the International Fund for Agriculture Devolopment conference in Rome, is that donor countries are unsure how best to deploy aid as agriculture become more liberalised and so have put their money into health and education programmes instead of farming. How new approaches to assisting production are needed.
