Parliament ‘could force Chilcot to publish’
Parliament could step in to force the Chilcot inquiry into the Iraq war to publish its report, says former attorney-general Lord Morris of Aberavon.
Lord Morris, who served in Tony Blair's first administration, has called the inquiry committee a "disgrace".
"The prime minister can pull the plug if parliament gives the decision," Lord Morris told Today.
"It's parliament, ultimately, that is the guardian of independence," he added.
“It is utterly reprehensible that for the 179 who have lost their lives and for those who have life-changing injuries, that there is no closure on what is essentially a matter of prime concern to them."
