A British rugby league player has become the first professional in his sport to come out as gay.
Married father-of-two Keegan Hirst has spoken to the Sunday Mirror about how he felt trying to come to terms with his sexuality.
He says he now feels free and has received support from his rugby team mates.
Keegan Hirst, who is Captain of the Batley Bulldogs - who play in the Championship in West Yorkshire - says he hopes his decision to come out will help others in the sport who might be fighting with their emotions.
Keegan captained his first match as an openly gay professional rugby player on Sunday when the Batley Bulldogs played local rivals Dewsbury.
