Fixing Global Food Waste
Can new French laws help to stop millions of tonnes food waste? And, can fixing it also help solve global hunger? Also we assess the real cost of India's monsoon season.
We ask whether new French laws on supermarket waste can make an impact on the millions of tonnes of the stuff produced annually? And, looking at the global problem, what difference will this make to the challenges facing the global food supply? We hear a report from Paris and we speak to Selina Juul, the founder of the Stop Wasting Food movement in Denmark. Should similar measures to force more food recycling be applied Europe-wide? Also, our reporter in Kolkatta, Rahul Tandon, looks at the key role of the annual monsoon to India's economy. Strong rains can add up to half a per cent to the country's GDP.
