Baby ashes scandal: ‘I’m reliving the nightmare’

Bereaved families are preparing to find out why a Shropshire crematorium failed to recover any of their children’s remains.

A year-long investigation by the Â鶹ԼÅÄ uncovered 60 cases at Emstrey Crematorium in Shrewsbury over a 15 year period, where families were told they would receive no ashes. It led to an independent inquiry, which is due to return its findings on Monday.

Glen Perkins, a campaigner from Action 4 Ashes and the father of four-and-a-half month old Olivia, who died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome in 2007, and Lorraine Pugh, the mother of Leah Mansell, who died aged six weeks in 1998, spoke to Joanna Gosling about their experiences.
