Barbara Hammond’s Story
Barbara Hammond was evacuated from London to East Lancashire in 1944.
Barbara recalls how she quickly picked up a Lancashire accent, wore clogs for the first time and learned to forecast the weather by looking at Pendle Hill.
She says she had tears in her eyes when she had to go back to London.
