Loree Napier’s Story
Loree come to the UK in 1939, aged 9, on the Kindertransport from Poland. She was brought up Jewish but adopted by a Christian family here.
She was with her foster family in Yorkshire on VE Day. She says she was glad that Hitler was dead but concerned about her father - she later learned that he died at Aushvitz. Her mother was in London and she stood on one of the statues; so glad that the war had ended.
