Nick Clegg has declared his Liberal Democrats the "guarantors of stability", saying he would negotiate with whichever party wins most seats and votes in Thursday鈥檚 election.

Mr Clegg gave his biggest indication yet that he would not block the Conservatives' pledged in/out referendum on Europe, saying his desire to increase NHS funding was more important than his opposition to a vote on EU membership.

Speaking from Cornwall, Mr Clegg said David Cameron and Ed Miliband "are still preposterously charging around the country saying they're going to win an outright majority".

Mr Clegg said no-one was going to do that, ruled out making any deals with the SNP or UKIP, and said that if people want a "stable, decent and united United Kingdom, that is what the Liberal Democrats will provide".

He was speaking to John Humphrys from Cornwall on his "two-day dash" of the UK ahead of Thursday's election.
