Scottish Borders: Divided opinions

As part of the programme's coverage of 100 seats in 100 days to the election, James Naughtie travels along the Scottish border, in the constituencies of Berwick-upon-Tweed and Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk where history still plays an important part in people's lives.

In Berwick-upon-Tweed, locals 'ride the bounds' of the town, a ritual common throughout the Scottish borders, to patrol the defences once erected against the marauding Scots, which they've been doing every spring for more than 400 hundred years.

Living so close to the border, the town has been both Scottish and English over the years and some worry about the influence of the SNP.

"We're all one nation we should stay one nation," one local said.
