The albino children hunted for body parts
Johan Bävman photographs Tanzania’s often persecuted albino children. In many parts of Tanzania widespread beliefs in witchcraft result in albino children being killed for their body parts which are traded in the belief they bring good luck or wealth. According to the UN, nearly 80 albino Tanzanians have been killed since 2000. Johan Bävman visits the Mintindo Primary School, a school which offers a safe and protected environment for albino children.
