Gambler's son calls for tighter industry controls

David Bradford gambled in secret for 30 years and his addiction spiralled out of control when he started gambling online as he borrowed on credit cards, loans, re-mortgaging the house and embezzled money from his employers.

His son Adam now controls any money he earns as his father tries to repay Β£520,000 of debt.

"It's a devastating addiction, hundreds of pounds in minutes you can blow thinking you're going to make that big win," he said.

Adam is now campaigning for tougher controls on the industry and has written an open letter to all the main party leaders.

"This is an industry without much heart...we do have a regulator in this country but the regulation that's out there isn't enough," he added.

David would like the industry to do more to help gamblers and those with an addiction.

"I would like the industry to take a proactive role in supporting people that are on the edge of becoming engulfed in this problem," he said.
