Tariq Jahan: 'I'm still fighting for justice'

One of the most striking images of the riot was when Tariq Jahan whose son was run over by a car in Birmingham appealed for peace and was widely seen as dampening the appetite for violence.

Reflecting on the riots Mr Jahan called them "absolute anarchy" but said there had been an improvement in Birmingham.

"I feel that there's a fantastic amount of cohesion, everywhere I go the community gets on great...everyone has their individual problems but as a society we seem to work fantastically," he said.

Mr Jahan's son Haroon was killed with two of his friends during the riots as they apparently protected local shops during the riots in Birmingham but no one has been convicted.

"I want some sort of accountability, I need to know, I need to have some sort of answers as to why this case fell apart," he said.
