Toni Morrison, Noura Mint Seymali, Julie Fowlis

Toni Morrison on her latest novel God Help The Child, Noura Mint on her modern twist to ancient griot music and folk singer Julie Fowlis on multiculturalism and her music.

Toni Morrison talks about her latest novel God Help The Child, which is set in the present day but focuses again on child abuse and the politics of African-American skin colour. The Mauritanian singer Noura Mint Seymali is much in demand at home but on a recent trip to the UK comes into the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ to explain how she brings a modern twist to ancient griot music. Then we abandon the art gallery, the recording studio or even the writer’s den to find out how the internet is developing artistic endeavours yet to be celebrated.

Folk Singer Julie Fowlis explains why multiculturalism is as important to her music as it is to her children. New footage of Kurt Cobain, the late lead singer of rock band Nirvana, has emerged, Brett Morgan is making it into a new film. And to end we revisit Leonard Cohen’s iconic hit Hallelujah to hear how it became the sound track to a love story.
