Aaron Cook has switched nationality to fight for Moldova

The world no. 1 taekwondo athlete was not chosen for Team GB at the London Games in 2012

The fighter from Dorset switched teams - and has become a citizen of Moldova.

His decision ended a long-running row with the British Olympic Association.

Chief Executive Bill Sweeney said "nobody likes to see a Brit leave their home nation, their country of birth, and compete against us for another nation."

Aaron will now represent Moldova at the Olympics in Rio next year. He has no formal links with the country but has already received his passport.

Aaron Cook commented last month that he had no option but to change nationality.

"I'm not going to throw away 20 years of dedication" he said "because of bureaucracy."
