The Liberal Democrats have promised to act as a "rock of stability, continuity and conscience" in a future coalition government, as they put education at the centre of their election manifesto.
Schools Minister David Laws has defended the Liberal Democratsβ performance in government.
βNo party in a coalition can deliver all of its manifestoβ, he said.
But he refused to be drawn on βred lineβ issues, saying this would be a βnutsβ negotiating position to take.
