Andy Burnham: "GP services have gone backwards"
Andy Burnham, the Shadow Health Secretary, told the programme that GPs services have "gone backwards" in this parliament.
Figures suggest almost 600 fewer GP surgeries in England open at evenings and weekends than before 2010, Labour has claimed.
Mr Burnham added that general practice had become a "demoralised profession" and that Labour would reinstate the promise of a GP appointment within 48 hours.
The Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt refuted Labour's figures adding that out-of-hours cover was being extended.
