Care workers not paid for travel between patients

Two care workers in south-west Wales say their former employer failed to pay them for the time spent travelling between visits to their clients' homes.

Zoe Conway has spoken to two care workers who say they were under pressure not to let visits with patients overrun - even, on one occasion when an ambulance was on the way.

"I was being harassed, constantly phoned while I'm there trying to reassure that elderly person that it's OK," one said.

On some occasions they didn't have enough time to wash the patient before being required to get to the next appointment.

"Some people would say: 'A small wash today, we haven't got time.' And you'd say: 'No we need to do a full wash,'" one said.

Their employer, Mitie, said in a statement: "The ex-employees have raised some serious allegations. We will conduct a detailed investigation into these matters."
