Mahagonny: City of Gold
A society of pleasure-seekers on the brink of financial ruin - that's the subject of a ground-breaking German opera written before the Second World War. It's called the Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny and is being staged by the Royal Opera House in London for the first time. Jamaican born opera star Sir Willard White is one of the main characters and Weekend's Dee Sebastian went to a rehearsal to meet him.
