Meet Afghanistan's cartwheeling cricketing hero

Let's introduce you to a man who's making waves at the Cricket World Cup. In fact, such is the impact of Afghanistan fast bowler Hamid Hassan, he featured on the pages of the Wall Street Journal in the USA.

On Thursday, he was instrumental in a moment of history for Afghanistan cricket as they recorded their first ever World Cup win. They beat Scotland by one wicket in a thrilling match in Dunedin.

Hassan appears to be the heart beat of the Afghanistan team with his cartwheel celebration and red bandana catching the imagination, but could English county cricket be the next stop in his fledgling career?

John Stephenson is Head of Cricket at the Marylebone Cricket Club, and has known Hassan from a young age.
