Greece health minister: Leaving eurozone would be a disaster

John Humphrys speaks to Adonis Georgiadis ahead of the country's general election.

Ahead of Sunday's general election in Greece health minister Adonis Georgiadis talks to John Humphrys about allegations of corruption and the consequences for Greece if far-left party Syriza wins.

'Maybe they will win...if they win our country will be on a big adventure'.

Reflecting on the country's economic progress Mr Georgiadis said 'I can reassure you the second half of 2014 was the best since the recession. I hope people will see we have made progress in the last two years'.

On the country's relationship with the EU if the far-left party Syriza becomes elected: 'There will be no renegotiation if Syriza wins...if the EU would accept a demand from a country that will blackmail saying "If you don’t give us money we want we will leave" then the next day all the countries will do the same and the eurozone will collapse'.

'I think exiting the eurozone will be a possibility...it will be a national disaster. Greece would be a Venezuela-type country less than a few months from now'.
