Taliban Attack on School in Peshawar Shocks Pakistan

A Taliban attack on a school in Pakistan killed many children. The militants said it was revenge for army operations, but army and government threatened new reprisals.

The Taliban shocked Pakistan by attacking a school in Peshawar, killing many people, most of them children. Suicide gunmen went from classroom to classroom, shooting as they went. It took the army eight hours to declare that all the gunmen were dead. In a moving personal view, the author Mohammed Hanif tells us the people of Pakistan just want peace.

Also, the lone wolf gunman in Australia who took hostages in a Sydney cafe, President Putin toughs it out as the Russian economy implodes, and how Cuba and the United States started to put half a century of hostility behind them. Plus, what is it about the Pope and the tango?
