How Should Canada Respond to this Week's Attacks?

Will Canadians have to give up some freedoms and civil liberties to ensure they are safe? Also, are Muslim converts more susceptible to radicalisation and militancy?

Canada's prime minister has insisted his country will not be intimidated, after a gunman rampaged through parliament before being shot dead. This followed Monday's attack on two soldiers in Quebec. Do the attacks mark a loss of innocence for a country that has always prided itself on a soft-touch security regime? Will Canadians have to give up some freedoms and civil liberties to ensure they are safe? Might Canada have to become more like America? Also, we ask whether Muslim converts are particularly susceptible to radicalisation and militancy? Both the Canadian attacks were apparently carried out by converts. It's an ongoing debate in the UK, US and elsewhere, as well as Canada.
