Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie grew up in Nigeria during the violent military regimes of the 1980s and 90s. Her novel Purple Hibiscus is told through the eyes of a 15 year old girl learning to resist the control of a fanatically religious father and an oppressive state.
This week the book was long listed for the Orange prize for fiction, pitting the first time novelist alongside Grande dames such as Toni Morrison and Margaret Attwood. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie joins Jenni to talk about the book.
