Β£1,800 for a nursing shift
An NHS hospital in Bristol has paid Β£1,800 for a nurse to cover a 12 hour a May Bank Holiday shift. It was one of a number of payments by health trusts across the country which reveal the extent to which short-staffed hospitals rely on locums to get through public holidays.
