Joe Cocking, 22, who is a bouncer and sales assistant at a designer boutique in Newcastle, said he spends 11 hours a week in the gym "for himself" and he's "not too interested" in how other people perceive him.

Twenty years after journalist Mark Simpson coined the term metrosexual he's back with a new one: spornosexual. It means men who are inspired by porn and sports stars when it comes to their appearance.

"I believe the term spornosexual is aimed at the extreme, if we look at the full spectrum…I could be somewhere in the middle, obviously I spend a lot more time than the normal man say in the gym and looking after myself," said Mr Cocker.
