Nigeria hostage negotiator speaks exclusively to Sunday
The latest Boko Haram attacks in northern Nigeria were horrifying even by the group's own bloody standards. At a village near the city of Maiduguri, for example, it appears they persuaded people to gather by saying they were planning to preach…and then opened fire on the crowd, claiming 45 lives. Boko Haram of course still hold the group of more than 200 school girls they kidnapped from the village of Chibok in April, and it has now emerged that one of those involved in negotiations to free the girls is Dr Stephen Davis, an Australian who used to be Canon at Coventry Cathedral and is a friend of the Archbishop of Canterbury. Edward asked him how he was operating and where he was.
