Shall We Dance?
In this workshop session Charles Hazlewood and the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Concert Orchestra reveal the extent to which the forms and styles of classical and modern dance music have provided the basis of works for the concert hall.
We follow the evolution of the modest Minuet into the symphonic Scherzo, courtesy of Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven; the journey of the Landler into the waltz, with Johan Strauss II and Tchaikovsky and the transformation of the Habanera into the Tango, from Bizet to Piazzolla.
