Dylan Thomas reads Over Sir John’s Hill

By all accounts, this is the first poem that Dylan Thomas wrote in the boathouse in Laugharne, when he moved there with Caitlin and the family in 1949. The poem is Thomas’ interpretation of the view from his window over Sir John’s Hill and the Towy estuary. A stroll over Sir John’s Hill became one of the poet’s favourite walks. Read by the poet, this recording was made for ‘Three Poems’, broadcast on the Third Programme on September 25th 1950.
