When the European Cup was Stolen

While the 1982 European Champions Aston Villa celebrated in a pub, one fan pinched the European cup.

European club football’s most prized asset will find its home for the next year in Madrid as this year’s final is held between city rivals Real and Atletico. So Madrid will be a party city, but a word of warning to the winning team's players - make sure you look after the trophy - because the strangest thing can happen during post-match festivities, as Colin Gibson, part of the Aston Villa squad of 1982, and the policeman who eventually recovered the trophy, testifies. It is the story of how the European Cup was stolen from a pub!
