Falkland Islands: Donna Henry

BALANCING ACT
by Donna Henry

He sees the beauty below
As he flies over head,
Those who look up
See his beauty light the sky,
The functional feathers
In his long delicate wings
Use the wind beneath him.
In elegance he is a king.
So free is he in the sky
To roam from place to place.
His aesthetically perfect body floats
Between his artistic wings of lace.
On and on he goes,
Swooping and diving,
Weaving and dipping,
For speed he's striving.
Over the water,
Around the trees
With no need at all to fly over cities.
He's a country bird
And there he'll stay
If we just leave him
To his play.
