Clarke Peters: We can get rid of the N-word
Actor Clarke Peters said society can get rid of the N-word, as he spoke up for censoring it and explaining the background.
He spoke to Andrew Neil, Michael Portillo and Alan Johnson about its use by black people, and the wider community, and how it has brought some people some money.
He said it was "really not acceptable" for black people to use it, and how he refused to use the word on-air in TV programme The Wire.
The actor, of American and Scottish descent, said: βWe should not be having this conversation, we shouldn't have to have this conversation."
The word has been in the news after the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ let a Radio Devon DJ go after he played an old record featuring the word, while Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson used it in unaired TV footage, that later appeared on a newspaper website.
