Dylan Thomas reads There was a Saviour

This pseudo-religious poem written by Dylan Thomas towards the end of the Second World War provides some proof for the view, outlined by actor Richard Burton in a 1971 interview, that Thomas was a religious man. This poem was published in 1946 in the collection ’Deaths and Entrances’ - the first of Thomas’ books to achieve both critical and commercial success. β€˜There Was a Saviour’, read here by Thomas, was first broadcast on the Third Programme on 24 September 1949.
