A new generation of Somali leaders?
The search for a new generation of Somali leaders is now on. The European funded initiative which is being tried out in Tower Hamlets is part of Operation Black Vote's Civic Leadership Programme to nurture future Somali leaders.
According to Operation Black Vote the Somali population in the UK currently exceeds 150,000 and for a community which arrived in the UK over a century ago, Somalis are amongst the poorest, worst-educated and least-employed in Britain.
