Dylan Thomas reads After the Funeral (In Memory of Ann Jones)
Tribute and elegy written on the death of Dylan Thomas’ aunt Ann – his mother’s elder sister and owner of a farm in Llangain, Carmarthenshire where Dylan spent happy summer holidays as a boy in the 1920s. Other works of his – notably the famous poem ‘Fern Hill’ and the story ‘ Peaches’ - remember these happy times. Thomas himself said that this was the only poem that he had written (at this time anyway) which was directly about the life and death of one particular human being that he knew. First published in Map of Love in 1939. Reading by Dylan Thomas from 1949.
