Coding and digital art
Chloe meets Seb Lee-Delisle, a coder and visual artist who creates large installations and events using code. Seb demonstrates his Pixel Pyros program which uses code to create a digital firework display that the public can interact with.
At Huddersfield’s Festival of Light, Seb has created a digital firework display that reacts to movement. Members of the public can trigger the infrared motion sensors so that the computer programme sets off digital fireworks, manipulated using code and beamed through high-powered lasers. The program is written in C++ and shared on an open source platform, which is available to all coders to access and develop.
Seb’s creativity as an artist is important to him and he wants more artistic coders to take advantage of the opportunities through programming and coding. He believes all code should be open source and shared by the community. It’s through sharing knowledge that groundbreaking technology advances can be made.
