Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Symphony Orchestra: Elgar Choral Works
Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Symphony Orchestra Conductor Laureate Sir Andrew Davis conducts Elgar’s masterpiece The Dream of Gerontius and The Apostles, less frequently performed but one of the composer’s greatest choral achievements. Majestic, terrifying and deeply moving The Dream of Gerontius follows the journey of a man’s soul through life, death and the afterlife and is considered the composer’s finest choral work. Containing some of Elgar’s most inspired writing, The Apostles tells the story of the disciples of Jesus, focussing on Mary Magdalene and Judas Iscariot with powerful intensity and great sensitivity.
