WW1 Conscription Appeal Records
Details of thousands of Londoners who tried to avoid conscription in World War One have been released online by the National Archives in Kew. The papers are from the Middlesex Appeal Tribunal which heard appeals in 1916 and 1918. But if you think most of those who tried to avoid going to war were conscientious objectors, you'd be wrong.
