Sir Roger Bannister's tribute to Sir Christopher Chataway

The former 5000m world record-holder Sir Christopher Chataway has died at the age of 82 of cancer. Sir Chris helped set the pace for Sir Roger Bannister's four-minute mile, and he later became a broadcaster and MP.

Sir Roger said Sir Christopher Chataway was "gallant to the end" and he and his family "will miss him sorely”.

"Our friendship dated back more than half a century and we ran together, laughed together, commiserated together. He was a companion in good times and in bad," said Sir Roger.
