Fighting Back
In 2013, Katie Bradley competed for Great Britain at the European Junior Championships.
Ìý
She was beaten, narrowly, by Turkey (one of the top nations in Taekwondo) and just missed out on a European medal.
Ìý
She turned her disappointment into determination and, in December, 17-year-old Katie from Plymouth was once again selected to represent GB, this time at the 2014 WTF WORLD Junior Championships, New Taipei City, Chinese Taipei.
Ìý
She'll be here to tell us all about it - and how she has to raise the money herself in order to compete.
Chris Good
Chris Good returned home to Plymouth in November 2009; lost, lonely and struggling to deal with the breakdown of his marriage and a decade long Christian faith.
Ìý
He stumbled drunk and alone into a local open mic night and put his name down to borrow a guitar and perform.
Ìý
He'd never done it before (despite playing guitar since he was 15 years old) and by the time his name was called, someone had to wake him from a drunken snooze!
Ìý
He grabbed the guitar and began with a Jeff Buckley style "Hallelujah".
Ìý
That night, he was invited to play a 45 minute set at another venue and Chris realised he may have lost his God and his wife, but he had something to achieve and someone new to become.
Ìý
He returned the following week, sober, focused and quickly became a popular regular performer.
〶Ä
"As much of a cliché as it sounds, music saved me from a lower road," says Chris.
We'll find out more when he joins us on today's show.
The McSmiths
The McSmiths play original material, "acoustically based with a strong helping of audience friendly choruses".
They areÌýbased in Sidmouth, East Devon and have almost completed their debut album called Devon Tea.
Ìý
Steve, Annie, Paul andÌýPiers say they are looking to 2014 as the year to get out and perform on a regular basis.
Ìý
They'll be bringing theirÌýmandolin, bodhran, guitar, double bass, whistle (with guest performer Brigid)Ìýand vocals to set the studio stomping along throughout today's show.
Ella Janes
Devon singer songwriter Ella Janes grew up in historical town of Winchester, moving to Exeter to pursue a degree in French Literature.
Ìý
Twenty one-year-old Ella writes and performs her own music - sometimes on guitar, sometimes on her ukulele or mandolin - and was selected for Glastonbury's Emerging Talent 2012 LongList.
Ìý
Her debut EP 'Leave It All Behind' was released just after her move to Nantes (France) where she spent a year abroad.
Ìý
She's back in Devon now and will be joining us to tell us about her new, full-band, EP "Many Miles Away" (due for release at the end of this month) which features a song she has written in French. Ooh la la!
