We also hear from sport psychologist Marion Sulprizio at the German Sport University in Cologne about "MentalGestärkt" (Mentally Prepared), an initiative started after German footballer Robert Enke took his own life in 2009, which helps athletes with psychological problems get the right treatment.

Billed as "historic", the inaugural Women and Sport Forum for Africa and Asia, organised by the International Olympic Committee took place in Kuwait this week. We discuss how to tackle issues including violence against sportswomen by male coaches and athletes and debilitating cultural and religious restrictions. Guests include Kirsty Coventry, Africa's most successful Olympian, and member of the IOC's Athletes' Commission, and Astrid Aafjes, founder of "Women Win" a charity promoting sport to empower women.

Earlier this month Megan Fisher was named October US female athlete of the month, beating Serena Williams into second place. It was an appropriate victory for the Paralympic gold medallist who was on the verge of becoming a professional tennis player had she not been involved in a horrific car crash in 2002.
